Zurich Super Lions CC are the CricketerPro T20 Division 2 champions for 2026 after producing a spectacular run chase to defeat Zurich Mavericks Adliswil CC by eight wickets in a thrilling final.

The 2026 CricketerPro T20 Division 2 season concluded in dramatic fashion, with two outstanding teams going head-to-head in a high-scoring final that showcased the quality, competitiveness and attacking style of Swiss domestic T20 cricket.
After Zurich Mavericks Adliswil CC posted an imposing 204/3 from their 20 overs, Zurich Super Lions CC responded with an extraordinary batting display, reaching 206/2 in just 17.1 overs to complete an emphatic eight-wicket victory and lift the championship trophy.
Mavericks Set the Final Alight
Having enjoyed an outstanding campaign and arrived at the final unbeaten, Zurich Mavericks Adliswil CC elected to put a formidable total on the board.
Their innings was built around an excellent performance from Ankush Panwar, who produced a superb 69 from 46 deliveries. His innings provided the foundation for the Mavericks’ imposing total and included consistent boundary scoring throughout the innings.
He was well supported by Arihant Gupta, who injected further momentum into the innings with a rapid 32 from just 14 balls.
Captain Rakesh Pawar provided a strong finish to the innings, remaining unbeaten on 24 from 12 deliveries as the Mavericks accelerated towards the 200-run mark.
After 20 overs, Zurich Mavericks Adliswil CC had posted an impressive 204/3, giving themselves an excellent platform and putting the pressure firmly on the Super Lions.
Super Lions Launch Extraordinary Chase
If 204 looked like a match-winning total, Zurich Super Lions had other ideas.
The response was led by an exceptional innings from Gideon Lourens, who produced one of the defining performances of the 2026 Division 2 season.
Lourens was simply unstoppable, smashing 101 from only 44 balls in a remarkable display of power hitting. His innings included seven fours and nine sixes, as he took the game away from the Mavericks and put the Super Lions firmly in control.
His century came at a strike rate of more than 225 and provided the platform for one of the most impressive successful chases of the season.
Lourens was superbly supported by Umair Ahmad, who remained unbeaten on 55 from 30 balls. Ahmad’s composed but aggressive innings ensured that the momentum remained firmly with the Super Lions during the latter stages of the chase.
Amit Kumar also played an important role, contributing 40 from 28 balls and helping establish the foundation for the successful pursuit.
The Super Lions ultimately reached 206/2 after just 17.1 overs, completing the chase with 17 balls to spare.
A Final Decided by Outstanding Batting
The final produced an extraordinary combined total of 410 runs, with both teams demonstrating the attacking qualities that make T20 cricket so exciting.
The Mavericks’ 204/3 represented an excellent final total, but the Super Lions’ response was exceptional. Chasing more than 200, they maintained an extraordinary scoring rate throughout the innings and finished with two wickets down.
At the heart of the victory was Lourens’ magnificent century. His 101 from 44 balls was not only the highest individual score of the final but also one of the standout batting performances of the tournament.
With Ahmad finishing unbeaten on 55 and Kumar contributing 40, the Super Lions’ top order delivered when it mattered most.
Zurich Super Lions – Champions
The victory completes a memorable campaign for Zurich Super Lions CC, who can now celebrate becoming the 2026 CricketerPro T20 Division 2 champions.
Their final performance demonstrated the qualities required to win a T20 championship: confidence, aggressive batting, composure under pressure and the ability to execute when the stakes were highest.
The eight-wicket victory also provided a spectacular conclusion to a competition that has once again offered clubs and players an important platform to compete in a shorter, high-intensity format.
