The Cricket Switzerland Athletes Commission serves as a vital platform for players, ensuring their voices are heard and their interests are represented in the governance and decision-making processes of Swiss cricket. It plays an essential role in fostering collaboration between athletes, administrators, and stakeholders, contributing to the growth and inclusivity of cricket in Switzerland.

Purpose and Objectives

The Athletes Commission is dedicated to:

  1. Representation: Acting as a collective voice for athletes, addressing their concerns, ideas, and recommendations in matters of cricket governance.
  2. Fairness and Inclusivity: Promoting an environment that prioritizes fairness, transparency, and equal opportunities for all players, regardless of background or experience.
  3. Player Welfare: Ensuring the physical and mental well-being of players by advocating for better support systems, safety measures, and resources.
  4. Collaboration: Bridging the gap between players and administrators to create a collaborative cricketing ecosystem that aligns with the shared vision of Cricket Switzerland.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The commission takes on several critical responsibilities to enhance the athlete experience:

  • Feedback and Advocacy: Collecting input from athletes and presenting their perspectives to Cricket Switzerland’s leadership and decision-making bodies.
  • Policy Review: Participating in the development and review of policies that impact athletes, such as selection criteria, competition formats, and training programs.
  • Player Development: Supporting initiatives that promote skill enhancement, fitness, and overall growth of athletes both on and off the field.
  • Conflict reporting: Athletes commission will provide a confidential and structured process for athletes to report concerns related to unfair treatment, ethical violations, integrity issues, or other disputes. The commission will forward complaints to the appropriate committee through the board, ensuring they are reviewed and addressed in a timely manner.Structure and Membership

The Athletes Commission is composed of individuals who are actively involved in Swiss cricket, including current and former players. Members are selected based on their experience, understanding of the cricketing landscape, and commitment to advocating for their peers.

Commission

The current commission is comprised of a Chair, Jacqui Edmiston, and four individuals, Ashwin Vinod, Danashi Medagoda, Chamith Deeman, and Subashree Srinivasan. Each member will advocate for men, women, and junior players, and are serving an initial one- year term.

Engagement with Athletes

To ensure effective communication and engagement, the Athletes Commission actively seeks input from players through:

  • Surveys and feedback forms distributed during and after competitions.
  • Regular interaction with team captains, coaches, and club representatives.
  • Open forums and meetings that provide players with the opportunity to share their views directly.
