sFOCUS UMPIRE TUTOR PATHWAY
Cricket Switzerland has established an Umpire Tutor Pathway to develop experienced umpires into qualified educators who can support the continued growth of officiating in Switzerland.
The pathway provides a structured progression from Assistant Tutor to ICC Level 1 Umpire Tutor, giving participants the experience and training required to deliver umpire education courses nationally.
The Pathway
1. Assistant Tutor
Experienced umpires begin their development by working alongside established tutors as Assistant Tutors. This provides practical experience in course delivery, group management, presentations and umpire education.
2. Develop Experience
Assistant Tutors gain experience by supporting sFOCUS umpire education activities and working with experienced tutors. Their progress and readiness for the next stage are assessed based on their experience and involvement.
3. ICC Level 1 Umpire Tutor Course
Once they have gained sufficient experience, suitable candidates can progress to the ICC Level 1 Umpire Tutor Course. This provides the formal training required to become an ICC-qualified umpire educator.
4. Qualified Umpire Tutor
Following successful completion of the ICC Level 1 Umpire Tutor Course, tutors become eligible to deliver:
- sFOCUS Introduction to Umpiring courses
- ICC Level 1 Umpiring courses
This creates a sustainable national pathway for developing both umpires and umpire educators within Switzerland.

Together, our tutors play an important role in raising umpiring standards, supporting new officials and strengthening the national umpiring pathway.
Become an Umpire Educator
Cricket Switzerland is expanding its Umpire Tutor network to make umpire education accessible across Switzerland and in our national languages.
We are particularly interested in developing tutors who can deliver courses in:
German · French · Italian
