The Cricket Switzerland T10 Championship has entered a new era, transforming from a purely club-based competition into an exciting club-owned franchise tournament designed to bring together the best cricketing talent in Switzerland.

Under the new franchise model, Cricket Switzerland member clubs have been awarded franchise teams, giving them the opportunity to build competitive squads by recruiting some of the best players from across the country, while also providing a platform for emerging talent to shine.

The new structure allows players from different clubs and regions to compete alongside each other, creating a higher level of competition and delivering an exciting new experience for cricket fans across Switzerland.

A total of six franchises have been awarded for the inaugural Cricket Switzerland T10 Championship 2026:

1. Zurich Alpine Warriors
2. Sports Club Roche
3. Olten CC
4. Zurich Mavericks Grahmwal
5. Basel Afghan CC
6. Swiss Dragons

Each franchise represents a Cricket Switzerland member club and has the opportunity to assemble a strong squad capable of competing for the championship title.

The introduction of the franchise model marks an important step forward for domestic cricket in Switzerland. It creates a platform for clubs to showcase their organisational capabilities, for players to test themselves against the country’s best, and for fans to enjoy a new generation of fast-paced, competitive T10 cricket.

With six franchises, talented players from across the country, and a brand-new competition structure, the Cricket Switzerland T10 Championship is set to become a flagship event in the Swiss domestic cricket calendar.

Tournament Report

The inaugural Cricket Switzerland T10 Championship 2026 officially got underway on 1 August 2026, marking a historic moment for Swiss cricket as six franchise teams came together to compete in Switzerland’s newest and most exciting cricket competition.

The tournament’s opening day coincided with Swiss National Day, making the occasion even more special as the cricket community came together to celebrate the country’s national day through sport, competition, and community.

With six franchise teams battling for the championship title, the Cricket Switzerland T10 Championship promises fast-paced cricket, explosive batting, exciting bowling, and plenty of entertainment for cricket fans across the country.

Zurich Mavericks Garhwal Crowned Cricket Switzerland T10 Champions

Embrach Cricket Ground witnessed five days of explosive T10 cricket as CS-T10 Championship, Zurich 2026 delivered a spectacular week of senior men’s club action from 1–5 August 2026.

Six clubs battled across 19 matches, producing 5,806 runs, 577 maximos and 347 fours in a tournament defined by relentless attacking cricket.

A Tournament Full of Big Numbers

Teams scored at an impressive 16.1 runs per over, while 84% of all runs came from boundaries and maximos. Despite the batting dominance, bowlers and fielders remained influential, with 192 dismissals and dot balls accounting for 34% of deliveries.

Batting first proved marginally advantageous, with teams setting the target winning 56% of decided matches.

Mavericks Lead the Way

Zurich Mavericks Garhwal finished the tournament as champions, powered by an outstanding batting performance.

Their biggest statement came in Match 4 against Sports Club Roche, when they posted a remarkable 243/0 in 10 overs. Malyar Stanikzai produced the tournament’s highest individual score, smashing 175 from just 39 balls*.

Stanikzai was also named Most Valuable Player, finishing with 576 runs in seven matches, including 76 maximos, at a remarkable strike rate of 371.6.

Other standout performances included Zurich Alpine Warriors’ 38-run over against Basel Afghan, while Basel Afghan completed the tournament’s biggest successful chase, chasing 177 against Olten with five balls to spare.

Outstanding Bowling Performances

Ankush Lal of Zurich Alpine Warriors recorded the tournament’s best bowling figures, taking 5/17 from two overs against Basel Afghan.

Basel Afghan’s Sayed Helal finished as the leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets, while Olten demonstrated the value of disciplined bowling by defending 136 against Swiss Dragons.

In the field, Abdullah Hamdard of Basel Afghan recorded eight dismissals, while Olten wicketkeeper Shahid Waridu contributed five catches.

Hassan Ahmad produced one of the most explosive batting performances of the day, smashing a brilliant 97 from just 29 balls*.

Qateel Zabiullah also impressed with a rapid 60 from only 20 deliveries, showcasing the attacking style of cricket that makes the T10 format so exciting.

For Basel Afghan, Abdullah Hamdard and Abdulbasir Zaman made valuable contributions with the bat, scoring 52 and 53 runs respectively.

Noman Amjad produced a sensational display of power hitting, smashing an unbeaten 106 from just 31 balls. He was superbly supported by Qismat Zadran, who contributed a brilliant 79 from 27 balls, as the pair combined in a breathtaking batting partnership.

After suffering a heavy defeat against Olten, Zurich Alpine Warriors responded in emphatic fashion.
