Cricket is a growing sport in Switzerland, with clubs, academies, schools and development programmes providing opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to discover, learn and compete in the game.

As the national governing body for cricket in Switzerland, Cricket Switzerland is committed to developing the sport within the Swiss sporting system and creating clear pathways for players to progress from their first experience of cricket through to competitive and high-performance environments.

WHAT IS FTEM?

FTEM stands for Foundation, Talent, Elite and Mastery. It is the athlete development framework used within the Swiss sporting system and supported by Swiss Olympic and the Federal Office of Sport (BASPO).

FTEM provides a common structure for understanding how athletes can develop throughout their sporting journey. It recognises that development is not simply about reaching elite competition, but about creating opportunities for people to participate, improve, perform and remain connected to sport throughout their lives.

FTEM & CRICKET SWITZERLAND

Cricket Switzerland is working to integrate the principles of FTEM into the development of cricket in Switzerland.

The framework provides a foundation for connecting grassroots participation, junior development, talent identification, performance programmes and national team cricket.

For a young player, the journey may begin by discovering cricket through a school, club or community programme. With continued participation and development, players can progress through junior cricket, talent programmes and competitive environments towards national representation and high-performance cricket.

At the same time, FTEM recognises that not every player follows the same journey. Cricket should provide opportunities for people to continue playing, developing and contributing to the sport at every level.

SWISS OLYMPIC & CRICKET SWITZERLAND

Cricket Switzerland is a member of the Swiss sporting community and works to strengthen its integration within the wider Swiss sports system.

Working in alignment with Swiss Olympic and the principles of FTEM, Cricket Switzerland aims to develop structures that support participation, talent development, performance and long-term involvement in cricket.

This includes creating stronger links between clubs, schools, youth programmes, coaches, officials, talent development and national teams.
