Zuoz, Switzerland — Against the spectacular backdrop of the Swiss Alps, the Zuoz Junior Cricket Festival 2026 brought together young cricketers for a weekend of competitive cricket, friendship and development.
Hosted by Zurich Crickets Club at the Zuoz Cricket Ground, the festival welcomed teams from across Switzerland, as well as Basel, Luxembourg and the Romande region. With competitions across the Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 age groups, the festival provided an excellent platform for young players to gain valuable match experience while enjoying the unique spirit of junior cricket.
Three Age Groups, One Celebration of Junior Cricket
The Under-11 competition featured teams from Luxembourg, Basel and Zurich, with Luxembourg Cricket Club emerging as champions and Basel Dragons Club finishing runners-up.
Luxembourg produced a strong and consistent performance throughout the competition, finishing at the top of the final standings. Basel also impressed, while Zurich competed with great enthusiasm and determination throughout the tournament.
In the Under-13 competition, Basel Dragons Club claimed the title, with the Romande Region CC finishing runners-up. The Romande team, representing players from across French-speaking Switzerland, added an exciting regional dimension to the festival.
The Under-13 matches produced some highly competitive cricket, with Zurich and Romande sharing a win apiece in their two encounters. Basel ultimately finished top of the standings after an impressive campaign.
The Under-15 competition saw Zurich Crickets Club and Luxembourg compete against each other. Playing on home soil in Zuoz, Zurich produced an outstanding performance, winning all four of their matches to finish as tournament winners.
The Under-15 matches also demonstrated the encouraging development of the players, with several young cricketers showing the potential to progress towards the next stages of their cricketing journey.
Cricket, Friendship and the Spirit of the Game
While the results provided plenty to celebrate, the real success of the festival went beyond the scorecards.
Throughout the weekend, the festival showcased the values that make junior cricket so important: teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and enjoyment. Players celebrated together, opponents encouraged each other and families from different clubs shared food, conversations and plenty of cricket stories.
These moments are an important part of the development of young cricketers. Festivals such as Zuoz provide children with the opportunity not only to improve their technical and tactical skills, but also to build friendships and develop confidence in a positive sporting environment.
Zuoz: A Unique Setting for Junior Cricket
The Zuoz Cricket Ground once again provided a spectacular setting for the festival, with the Alps forming a stunning backdrop to the weekend’s cricket.
The combination of excellent surroundings, good playing conditions and the enthusiasm of the participating teams created an atmosphere that made the festival particularly memorable for players, parents and coaches alike.
A Big Thank You to Everyone Involved
Organising a junior festival of this scale requires a tremendous amount of commitment, and the 2026 edition was no exception. The organising team successfully managed a number of last-minute challenges, including team withdrawals and changes to the tournament arrangements, while ensuring that the festival continued to provide a positive experience for everyone involved.

Special recognition also goes to Vinayak G. for his overall coordination of the festival and the arrangements supporting catering and facilities.

The Zuoz Junior Cricket Festival is an excellent example of the growing opportunities available to young cricketers in Switzerland and the wider European cricket community.
For the children who took part, the weekend was about much more than winning trophies. It was about competing, learning, making friends and enjoying the game in one of Switzerland’s most spectacular cricket settings.
Every catch, boundary, celebration and handshake contributed to a weekend that demonstrated the strength and potential of the next generation.
