Cheers…. Cuddles… Smiles… and Ice-cream!!!
There was much excitement as young players from the Luxembourg, Basel, Zurich, Gingins, and GRYCC clubs all participated in the very first Basel U9 tournament over the past weekend.
The players were grouped into 3 teams and played 6 keenly contested matches over the two days.
Key highlights of the tournament included 9 direct run-outs and 33 “clean-bowled” dismissals.
Ultimately it was the Basel team who were crowned champs, winning an impressive 3 out of 4 matches. But what stood out from the weekend were the excellent performances from all the young players and their impressive team spirit.

Tournament organiser from the Basel Dragons, Ramesh Chandra, was blown away by the enthusiasm and growth of the players: “It was amazing to see how the kids transformed over the course of the weekend, from perhaps being a little anxious before the start to serious players who enjoyed every moment during the match.”
Watched on by proud coaches and beaming parents, cricket was the winner – cricket and ice cream!
