Switzerland prepares for ICC 2024 Mens T20 World Cup European Sub-regional qualifiers participation

Exciting times are back as Switzerland will be competing in the ICC 2024 Mens T20 World Cup European Sub-regional qualifiers scheduled for 24-31 July in Finland.  This will first major ICC tournament Switzerland will be participating in after 2008.

They will part of Qualifier B consisting of two groups of 5 each with teams playing against each other in a round robin. Switzerland is placed along with Norway, France, Estonia, Czech Republic.

 

Switzerland will enter the tournament as an unknown quantity having been away from the ICC tournaments for some time now. However, with the work that has gone behind the scenes in ensuring that there was a national team that was travelling around Europe and playing unofficial games against various opponents is bound to help in getting them up to speed with other countries in the region.

There are high expectations from the national team which is mainly composed of youngsters who have come through the youth system in the country. A good mixture of young and experienced players, this will be their chance to showcase their skills at a higher level. Their performance at the Valetta Cup played in Malta showed that they will be no push overs come July. All cricket lovers in Switzerland will be hoping that this team will be fighting till the end and that is just the beginning of a beautiful long journey.

The preparations for the ICC tournament are well underway in the snowy winter of Switzerland. Indoor sessions have been organized for the National Team under the guidance of national team coaches who have been working hard with players in developing their individual skills. A National team program is being designed to ensure that the team gets to play as many competitive matches as possible before taking off to Finland in July.
