Zurich Crickets Win the 2025 U17 CSYL Cup

Nov 26, 2025 | 2025, U17

Zurich Crickets Cricket Club continues its strong tradition in junior cricket, securing yet another national title—this time in the 2025 U17 CSYL Cup. The club’s U17 1st XI delivered a confident and composed campaign, showcasing depth in both batting and bowling, and ultimately proving themselves the strongest side across Switzerland.

Dominant Group Stage in the East

ZCCC entered the competition with a clear sense of purpose. Throughout the group stage in the Eastern region, the team played disciplined, clinical cricket, topping their group and earning the right to face the champions from the West of Switzerland in the Leman Cup, the final step toward the national title.

A Rain-Affected Final, but a Commanding Performance

Despite the weather threatening to disrupt the contest, the final went ahead—and Zurich Crickets ensured they remained in control from start to finish.

Bowling first, ZCCC produced a well-structured attack that kept the opposition under constant pressure. The bowlers worked in partnerships, limiting scoring opportunities and taking wickets at crucial moments. Their efforts restricted the West of Switzerland team to 209/8 in 30 overs, a competitive but chaseable total.

The standout performer with the ball was Furqan Ali Khan, whose spell earned him Man of the Match. His three wickets broke the backbone of the opposition innings, halting momentum whenever it threatened to build.

A Confident Batting Reply

The Zurich Crickets chase got off to a steady start before captain Avneet Singh (41) and the elegant Parwez Rahimzay (44) took command. Their partnership combined control, power, and smart rotation of the strike, ensuring the required run rate never became an issue—even with rain interruptions adding uncertainty to the proceedings.

By the time ZCCC reached 124/4 in just 12.5 overs, the result was beyond doubt. The match was comfortably won by 7 wickets, sealing the U17 title and capping off an excellent all-round display.

Celebrating the Achievement

The official trophy presentation took place at the U19 Final in Embrach on 19th October, where captain Avneet Singh accepted the cup on behalf of the team. He was joined by teammates Haron Momand and Nijat Alokozay, who represented the squad during the ceremony. Their presence highlighted the unity and collective effort behind this achievement.

A Strong Future Ahead

This victory adds to Zurich Crickets’ growing list of junior successes and reflects the strength of the club’s youth development programme. With talented, well-coached players progressing steadily through the age groups—and contributing to senior teams—the future of the club looks very bright.

Congratulations to the entire U17 squad, coaches, and supporters for an outstanding 2025 season.
