A virtual reality cricket match in Switzerland
Cricket Switzerland is set to announce a series of virtual cricket matches from now until the end of the current next lock-down period. The system will be demonstrated this Thursday.
The system has been developed by VRC online and has been driven by the pandemic.
The manufacturers of VRC online state, “Virtual Reality Cricket has been around for a number of years. But VRC online not only emulates the batsman, it also emulates the bowler. So, unlike any other virtual reality cricket systems, VRC online, can be played in real-time by players in different locations”.
An app is downloaded to a player’s mobile phone. In bowling modus, it will be able to measure distance, direction & speed of the ball bowled by a bowler. While the bowler bowls the ball at one ground, a batsman will be present at another. With the same app, but in batting modus, it will calculate whether the ball has been hit, how hard and in what direction.
The software is due to be trialled by Cricket Switzerland at Deutweg in Winterthur on Thursday 1st April 2021.
Spectators can register free for an online seat to watch the first virtual cricket match in Switzerland.
Further details on the VCR online trial are available from Alexander Mackay.
