Introduction
Cricket Switzerland (CS) has a long-standing tradition of its members and other entities organizing tournaments, matches, and events outside of official CS-organized activities. These local events aim to broaden participation and showcase cricket to a wider audience within Switzerland, aligning with CS’s goals to promote the sport.
ICC and CS Rules on Event Sanctioning
In compliance with International Cricket Council (ICC) and CS regulations, the CS Board is required to sanction matches or events held within Switzerland. The authority to sanction or decline events has been delegated to the Membership and Compliance Committee (CSMCC).
Event organizers must apply in writing to the CSMCC for sanctioning, adhering to the following guidelines:
- Timelines: Events must not disrupt CS domestic competitions.
- Compliance: Adhere to ICC, Swiss Olympic (SO), and CS rules, including ethics, social media, doping, and anti-corruption codes.
- Participation: Foreign team participation may require ICC approval.
- Health and Safety: Ensure participant welfare, including adequate rest periods.
- Venue Suitability: The event must be held at a suitable venue.
- Development Goals: Events should promote and develop cricket.
- Membership Compliance: Applicants must fulfill their CS membership obligations.
Conditions and Compliance
- Permission may be granted for multi-year events or conditionally, subject to compliance with stated conditions.
- Sanctioned events remain the responsibility of the organizers for safety and security arrangements.
- Participation in unsanctioned matches by CS members or banned individuals is prohibited.
- Permission may be revoked if there are significant changes or breaches in the event’s conditions.
Disputes and Final Decisions
Disputes or challenges regarding non-compliance or CSMCC decisions will be resolved by the CS Board.
