Sport has always been a great tradition at the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz and accordingly it plays an important part in the life of the school. The school motto “mens sana in corpore sano” indicates the fundamental value of physical well-being and of intensive physical activities as the basis for a harmonious development of the whole person. In 1923, Gordon Spencer, the legendary British Games Master, firmly implanted sporting values such as “how you play the game”, “team spirit” and “fair play”. These values still guide us in the physical education of our students.

Cricket has been a huge part of Sport at the Lyceum Alpinum. For the past twenty years, the school has hosted the International Cricket Festival. In 2018, the tournament will have 8 teams from across Europe including the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club from England). In the past teams from Australia, America, UAE and India have taken part. The school also organises the ‘Summer Games’ where the alumni and students play against each other in various, including non-other than Cricket.

Today, the sports offered by the Lyceum Alpinum are certainly an important consideration for new students in their decision to attend the school. The broad offer underlines the high importance the school places on sport. The range of Games, the school teams and the various events at the Lyceum Alpinum contribute to the exclusive image of our boarding school.
